Future, often referred to as Present, and its companionpiece Past, flanking the Pennsylvania Avenue entrance of the National Archives Building, had been modeled by Robert Aitken and carved out of Indiana limestone by Edward H. Ratti in 1935. Future, is symbolized by a 20-foot tall seated female dressed in extended robes which are draped about the back of her chair. Her appropriate left arm hangs more than the arm of the chair. Her suitable proper arm rests across her lap on best of an open book. Her head is partially covered by the drapery and she wears sandals. The base, inscribed with the words &quotPast is Prologue&quot, is adorned with shields and other military and government symbols carved in relief.

The National Archives Building, known informally as Archives I, positioned north of the National Mall on Constitution Avenue in Washington, DC, opened as its original headquarters in 1935. The developing was created in Classical Revival style by John Russell Pope. It holds the original copies of the three major formative documents of the United States and its government: the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights.

Q&A: My son went to close his lap leading and?

Question by Victoria S: My son went to close his lap leading and?
there was an ear bud headphone set in it when he closed it. The pressure of the ear bud and him closing the lap top cover, broke the monitor screen and it is carrying out genuinely odd things to one corner of the lap best screen. The laptop or computer works fine but the monitor is generally unusable in the 1 corner. He has an additional keyboard and monitor and says he can make it into a desktop. Does everyone know any fixes for this or have any other vibrant ideas? What a freak sort of factor to happen. My son is fairly upset.

Runmeter, Cyclemeter and Walkmeter six. for iPhone Feature the Most Advanced Support of Wahoo Fitness ANT+ Program Accessible

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) October 05, 2011

Abvio today announced version 6.0 of their award-winning iPhone applications, Runmeter, Cyclemeter and Walkmeter. These top-rated GPS fitness apps deliver the power of an expensive bike computer or GPS watch to your iPhone by tracking workouts with a host of features designed to help you improve performance and fitness. Social sharing features, including support for Twitter, Facebook and dailymile.com, provide extra motivation with a fun twist: your friends, family and coaches can reply to your posts on these social sites, their replies are then spoken using text-to-speech technology during your workout.

Leading the list of new features in version 6.0 is advanced support for the ANT+ system from Wahoo Fitness (purchased separately), which allows an iPhone user to monitor heart rate, cycling speed, and cycling cadence for real-time workout feedback and post-workout analysis.

Runmeter, Cyclemeter and Walkmeter 6.0 go much further than similar iPhone apps by providing a deeper implementation and more precise health data, such as calorie calculations using heart rate and VO2Max, stop detection based on cycling speed sensor data, and split/interval/zone analysis summarizing more than a dozen data items. Further, real-time feedback is supported, with more than 70 possible data items that may be heard, displayed on-screen or shared on social networks.

Abvio?s apps offer outstanding support for the Wahoo Bike Case (for cycling) and the Wahoo Key (for running and other activities), which wirelessly connect to sensors that support ANT+. The Wahoo Bike Pack and Wahoo Run Pack bundle these ANT+ receivers with a speed/cadence and a soft heart rate belt, respectively.

More than 12,000 hours of engineering have been invested in the three applications, just one of the reasons Abvio?s apps are the highest-rated GPS fitness applications for the iPhone today (with a 4.5 star user rating as of September 23, 2011).

?We invested nearly a year developing the foundation and features for 6.0 and the Wahoo Fitness ANT+ system,? said Abvio?s CEO Steve Kusmer. ?With the evolution of the iPhone platform and the impending release of iOS 5, this is a very exciting time for us. We are driven to create innovative, reliable and easy-to-use applications that far exceed the capabilities of bike computers and GPS watches that cost hundreds of dollars. This supports our mission to help our customers become healthier and live longer.?

?We welcome Abvio as a Wahoo Fitness partner,? said Chip Hawkins, CEO, Wahoo Fitness. ?Abvio is a company with a clear vision and a track record of excellence. They have succeeded in building apps that offer broad and comprehensive support for our ANT+ system, which will provide athletes with rich real-time information they can use to monitor and improve their fitness.?

Power up Workouts with Runmeter, Cyclemeter and Walkmeter 6.0

Version 6.0 also includes new features designed to help you take your runs, rides and hikes to the next level with more data, analysis and customization of workouts:

Interval Training is a proven training technique to improve fitness. Version 6.0 includes the most advanced interval training system available in any app or on any device. Intervals can be based on time, distance, reaching a specific location or may be advanced using a Lap button. Voice prompts for each interval can be customized to any specific command. Intervals can have targets set, and each interval and its summary statistics are noted on a Google Map and in workout reports. Walkers can use Interval Training to help make the shift to running by using simple run/walk intervals. Professional athletes can set up pyramid intervals and tempo workouts to ratchet up their performance.

Target Alerts can be set per interval or over the whole activity to provide real-time feedback of heart rate, speed, pace and cycling cadence. When you are outside of your target range, an announcement gives you feedback, such as, ?increase speed? or ?decrease heart rate? along with your current statistics.

Zones analyze your post-workout performance by using summarizing ranges for heart rate, speed, pace and cycling cadence. Zones are completely configurable to any range and can be applied to any workout, both during and after.

Tap the new Lap Button at any point during a workout to record all of the data up to that point as an interval while summarizing a dozen different statistics such as time and distance covered, average pace, fastest pace and maximal heart rate. The Lap button also records a marker on the workout map.

Runmeter, Cyclemeter and Walkmeter 6.0 are all built from the same foundation, and come preconfigured for running, cycling and walking, respectively. Each app supports all features and activities. All three are available on the Apple iTunes App Store (iTunes link) for $ 4.99 (US). One voice, for hearing replies from Twitter, Facebook and dailymile.com, is included free. Subsequent voices are $ 0.99 (US) each via In App Purchase.

Rocky Warner Pulls Off Thrilling Victory In Sunday?s BACC-OFF Pro Stock Championship 25 At Syracuse Mile

Syracuse, NY (PRWEB) October 14, 2011

If Sunday afternoon?s BACC-OFF Pro Stock Championship 25 was Rocky Warner?s last Super DIRT Week look as a full-fender division typical, he surely created it memorable. With a move to the DIRTcar Sportsman class in his plans for 2011, Gloversville, N.Y.?s Warner capped his Pro Stock profession with a flourish, winning the division?s 25-mile Super DIRT Week XL headline event at the one-mile New York State Fairgrounds for the second consecutive year.

The 30-year-old standout put on a show as he came on strong late in the distance to outduel Rob Yetman of Castleton, N.Y., and Pete Stefanski of Wheatfield, N.Y., for the $ 2,000 leading prize. He started 11th, grabbed the lead from Stefanski on lap 20 and held off Yetman over the final circuits.

Yetman settled for second location, just .229 of a second behind Warner. Stefanski placed third, followed by polesitter Joey Ladouceur of Alexandria, Ont., and outside-polesitter Jocelyn Roy of Ste-Helene, Que.

?This was fun,? stated Warner, who drove the West End Towing No. 79. ?Last year I led all 25 laps (of the BaccOff? Pro Stock Championship 25). This year we had to earn it big-time. We started 11th and had to pass some excellent cars to get to the front.?

Soon after quietly inching his way forward throughout the caution-plagued 1st 15 laps of the function, Warner turned up the wick down the stretch. He announced his checkered flag intentions by passing polesitter and early leader Joey Ladouceur of Alexandria, Ont., for third on lap 17 and then overtaking Yetman for second 1 circuit later. Warner then began to pressure Stefanski, who had grabbed the lead from Yetman on lap 17. Warner made his move on lap 20, nosing ahead of Stefanski at the start/finish line and then turning back Stefanski?s bid to regain command by means of turns one and two.

?I knew Rob was close but I didn?t realize how close he was till I saw his nose coming off of (turn) three,? Warner mentioned of the final tour. ?It was an amazing race and those guys produced me earn it.?

Warner was ecstatic following securing a victory at the historic Moody Mile. ?A win is a win, but when you win a fantastic race like this it feels a complete lot greater,? stated Warner. ?To be in the history books is amazing. Buzzie (Reutimann), (Gary) Balough, (Pete) Bicknell, (Brett) Hearn and (Billy) Decker have all won back-to-back (races) in other divisions, so to add my name to the list of guys with back-to-back wins here is unique.?

Warner stated he has his race-winning Pro Stock up for sale as he plots his 2012 assault on the DIRTcar Sportsman ranks. He has already confirmed solid in the open-wheel division this season ? he owns six triumphs at Glen Ridge Motorsports Park in Fayetteville, N.Y. ? and hopes to choose up the pace even much more as a Sportsman standard next season.

Six caution flags slowed the occasion, all during the first 15 laps. The most noteworthy incident of the feature was a lap-14 homestretch tangle involving Roch Aubin of Alexandria, Ont., and Corey Wheeler of Cornwall, Ont. Their tangle boiled more than to pit road, where they banged together and had been banished from further action.

Initially supplied in wintergreen, cinnamon, and mint flavors, BaccOff? straight non-tobacco chew was introduced in 1993 as the initial chewing tobacco alternative with the taste, texture, and *spitability of real tobacco snuff. DipStop? Inc. (maker of BaccOff?) was founded in 1991 by Russell Ralston to combat the vital health difficulties associated with smokeless tobacco by helping users break the nicotine habit. Household owned and operated in Selma Alabama, DipStop is one of numerous organization units devoted to the development and introduction of innovative products designed to increase the health and properly-being of its global client base.

Vehicle Covers For All

Write-up by Elin Ray

Living in the contemporary world is a great factor. We have so a lot of cool items to help our day to day lives. Showers and electricity. Cell phones and lap tops. Subways and private transportation. When it comes to your private transport whether or not it is a automobile, truck SUV or motorcycle, protecting it is important. They make cell phone covers and lap top covers so why not a automobile cover ? Your car is an investment too, normally significantly more expensive at that.

In today’s contemporary world you can purchase a automobile cover for just about any make model or sort. No matter whether it is for your vehicle, SUV, truck, limousine, tractor, ATV, boat or other recreational car, it can be protected. Why you ask ? I say why not. Dirt, dust, rain, hail, UV rays, bird droppings, tree sap, snow and ice are all excellent causes to safeguard your investment with a good quality auto cover or other vehicle cover.

Dirt, dust, bird droppings and tree sap can derail your efforts of washing your car. Hail can damage the finish with a dimpling effect. UV rays are the worst, they can really fade the paint and interior surfaces of your automobile, specially if you live in the Southwestern portion of America such as Arizona, New Mexico and Southern California. Snow and ice are just plain time consuming. If your automobile is covered, you can hit that snooze button a couple of times just before obtaining up for work.

There are several covers on the marketplace right now and some are far better than other people. I personally like the Elite brand. They have efficient economic alternatives as nicely as middle of the road and leading of the line. Your climate must aid you figure out which will function ideal, or if you preserve your automobile in a garage. If you do a straightforward economy cover will suffice. This kind is also proper for light outdoor use. If you keep your automobile outdoors in a moderate climate a heavier duty cover would suffice, one thing with waterproof protection and UV therapy. If you live in a four season climate with heavy winters, a four layer cover would be ideal. The four layer cover is top of the line with a fleece lining for additional protection. This cover would perform anyplace but I would strongly advocate it as the only option if you have intense winter weather. If you live somewhere were you have high precipitation the Tyvek covers are really waterproof and might be the greatest for your requirements.

To buy a cover, shop online. You’ll have an excellent selection and a lot of websites to pick from. Be sure to watch for sales and also investigate the return policy’s as properly as shipping and handling fee’s as some websites provide free of charge shipping. You can use a search engine such as Google or Bing to find a source. Just plug in vehicle cover or truck cover and so on. to get results on who’s selling them. Do your homework and you’ll locate what you need to have for the ideal deal.

You invest time a cash maintaining your car or other vehicle, think about protecting it with a quality car cover right now. For much more data on automobile covers, please check out http://www.elitecaroversonline.com

It’s all about packaging, eh?

A couple of months ago I managed to leave at the Phoenix airport the little white USB plug adapter I use to charge my iPhone.

Considering that then, I’ve been charging from the laptop, my vehicle, my solar charger and a third party long cable that goes nicely into a Belkin outlet expander (adds three outlets to 1 plus two USB ports, its handy) I keep near the table where I do most of my lap-topping.

But I still wanted the small plug for my travel bag, so I bit my tongue and paid the Apple charges for a bit of plastic and metal.

Holy moly, I can see now why they charge — its packaging! 1st there is the clear lucite package. Then there is that clear transparent film covering all the white plastic parts… er part. And under the holder is a SECRET COMPARTMENT– and I get an instruction manual!

Oh there was a bonus. an added USB-iPhone cable.

It took about of effort to get the thing out.

We had all three cats on the bed for a quite brief small bit the other night. Freya and Danya had been going at it as only cats can, glaring and position being their bread and butter of war.
We are lucky that our cats are not into physical battle but Jen (who was the bulwark of Danya’s defense) was worried.

Danya is our ex street cat. As a long haired tabby cat she is very lovely. She has turn into a lap cat and a sponge sucking as considerably attention as she can. This (and her new cat status) has brought on the other two cats to have problems with her. She also has problems with them, so any time they get along it is nice indeed.

Freya, our black cat, is the sister to Loki. She is also the best of the social ladder here.

Loki, our gray cat, is the sister to Freya. She is the one cat who rarely demands attention so I seek her out to give her some. Which makes her worried as to why I’m hunting her down.

In photo L to R: Frank Shorter, Pre (behind front runners), unk, Steve Stageberg, Terry Harrison, rest unk

The quotes and info below are from an post by sports editor Jerry Uhrhammer in the June 26, 1971 concern of the Eugene Register-Guard.

8100 fans watched Pre run the second-fastest US 3-mile time ever. The record was held by Gerry Lindgren who ran 12:53. in 1966. Lindgren placed fourth in this race. Pre and Lindgren were the only two US men to break 13 minutes as of this race.

Steve Stageberg of Georgetown TC, originally from South Eugene HS, Oregon, was only .five second from becoming the third to break 13 minutes in his individual record run. His 13:00.4 time beat his prior individual finest in 1970 of 13:15.8 by 15.4 seconds. &quotAnd this was precisely the race I wanted — a tough gut race from the beginning. None of that puss-footing around with a slow pace and everyone sprinting at the end.&quot Even miler Marty Liquori predicted the race would be &quotThe greatest three-mile there is ever been in America . . . a really competitive three or 4-way race down to the last lap.&quot

Leading finish order:

1, Steve Prefontaine (OR) 1258.6 – New field &amp OR record meet record
2. Steve Stageberg (Georgetown TC) 13:00.4
3. Frank Shorter (FL TC) 13:02.4
4. Gerry Lindgren (unattached) 13:04.three
five. Martio Perez (Mexico) 13:04.three
6. Terry Harrison (SC Striders) 13:07.

Pre set a new meet record last set by Bob Schul of the Ohio AAU with a 13:10.4 in 1965. Pre set new Hayward Field and U. Oregon records in the 3-mile, beating his own prior record time of 13:01.6 on April 3, 1971 at a dual OR-Stanford meet.

As another indicator of the good quality of competitors at this meet, Ivory Crockett of the Philadelphia Pioneer AC, the defending champion with 9.3 seconds in the 1970 AAU 100 yard dash, placed fifth in this meet’s 100 event with a time of 9.1!

Pre grimaced in disappointment at not beating Lindgren’s record time. &quotI know, but I’m a little closer . . . maybe by the end of the summer.&quot Pre’s previous greatest time in the 3 mile was 13:01.6.

Although Lindgren’s 1966 effort was a solo jaunt much of the way. This race was anything but. It was extremely competitive the whole distance. Stageberg and Frank Shorter both ran individual best races. Pre, Shorter, Stageberg and Lindgren had been in the leading group all the way, Lindgren leading for a time early in the race. Pre and Shorter traded leads considerably of the rest of the way.

The initial mile clocked at 4:17, the second at 4:25. With two laps to go, Pre was in front with Shorter off his shoulder. On the 11th of the 12 laps Pre picked up the pace and opened a slight gap. Stageberg took advantage, moving past Shorter into second. The two Oregonians from Coos Bay and Eugene were side-by-side at the gun lap commence.

&quotWith a lap to go, I knew the crowd wanted it, too. . . . I couldn’t let them down,&quot said Pre.

Stageberg heard the crowd too: &quotAll the way down the backstretch all I could hear was the din . . . it came in waves. It was deafening . . . an incredibly surrealistic feeling.&quot

Going about the turn, Pre looked over and saw Stageberg out of the corner of his eye. Stageberg saw him appear. &quotMy initial believed was that possibly he’s worried.&quot

Both were running strong, but Pre opened up a slight lead on the final turn, then elevated as Stageberg began tiring. Pre built the lead to 25 yards at the tape, completing his final lap in 58.8 and the final half mile in two:02.five.

The elated Pre jogged about the track on victory laps, waving to the crowd. &quotDid I look difficult?&quot he asked with a grin as he came to the interview area. &quotI think I had a lot left. I don’t know why I let up coming off the last turn.&quot He had seen Stageberg fading. &quotI really should have kept driving to the finish line but I didn’t know I was under 13 minutes.&quot

Pre referred to as the track &quotbeautiful&quot and said the same of the spectators. &quotThose people are fantastic. They’re my men and women, man. How can you lose with 12,000 folks behind you?&quot (They possibly sounded like 12,000).

&quotI redeemed myself for last year’s race, that is for positive,&quot stated Pre, referring to his fifth location AAU finish when he ran on an injured foot. When asked what was going by way of his mind, Pre thought for a moment, then grinned and said: &quotWho’s next?&quot

Pre and Stageberg’s times qualified them for the 1971 Pan-American Games in Cali, Colombia. Pre competed in this meet.

Pre’s run times in the National championship three-mile event:

1969, 29 June: 4th, 13:43. (just graduated high school)
1970, 27 June: 5th,13:26.
1971, 25 June: 1st, 12:58.6 Field and UOregon Record meet record
1973, 16 June: 1st, 12:53.4. Meet Record (just graduated from the University of Oregon) This was the last year the three mile event would be held at the Nationals thereafter only the 5000m event was held.
